SEL in the Classroom

Effective SEL approaches often incorporate four elements represented by the acronym SAFE:

  • SEQUENCED: Connected and coordinated activities to foster skills development
  • ACTIVE: Employing active forms of learning to help students strengthen new skills
  • FOCUSED: Dedicated time and attention to developing personal and social skills
  • EXPLICIT: Targeting specific social and emotional skills

    I would really prioritize being relationship oriented. I would be very welcome to evolving my strategy and learning as I go. I want to cater my teaching style to each individual not the class as a whole. I want to earn the student's trust and respect so there is no hesitation to come to me with problems or questions.

I   WARM UP   Activity 1 Class begins with music and warm up. Students are invited to get on their feet, get away from their desks and follow the professor's  muscle groups - isolation  warm up.  In previous classes, we added  conscious breathing  at the end of the warm up,   self-affirmations  and  meditation .
