Effective SEL approaches often incorporate four elements represented by the acronym SAFE:

  • SEQUENCED: Connected and coordinated activities to foster skills development
  • ACTIVE: Employing active forms of learning to help students strengthen new skills
  • FOCUSED: Dedicated time and attention to developing personal and social skills
  • EXPLICIT: Targeting specific social and emotional skills

 ART WORK

INSTALLATION ART: READYMADES AND FOUND OBJECTS

VI

Installation Art

Installation art is a term generally used to describe artwork located in three-dimensional interior space as the word "install" means putting something inside of something else. In our class we adapt this  concept to arrange readymades and found objects in order to create an installation that has meaning.

Concepts Addressed today:

Readymades

Found Objects

Watch the videos below:

READY MADES

The readymades of Marcel Duchamp are ordinary manufactured objects that the artist selected and modified, as an antidote to what he called "retinal art". By simply choosing the object and repositioning or joining, titling and signing it, the Found object became art.

FOUND OBJECTS

Found object originates from the French objet trouvé, describing art created from undisguised, but often modified, objects or products that are not normally considered materials from which art is made, often because they already have a non-art function.

 Question 6

What is the importance of readymades and found objects when creating installation art pieces?

Comments

  1. After watching the video above, answer the following questions:

    Question1

What is Robinson's definition of intelligence?: I think he was trying to express that intelligence is more the child's ability to think independently and creatively. Less so, their ability to repeat information given to them from the instructor. He emphasized diverse, dynamic, and distinct.

    Question 2

Why does Robinson think schools are killing creativity? : There is a hierarchy in education systems. Some fields are emphasized stronger than others which limits diversity of the student's exposure.

    Question 3

What would you, as a new teacher, do to enhance creativity in your classroom? I could eliminate standardized exams and tests for each student and evaluate each one individually and personally.

    Question 4

Who is more equipped to generate a learning environment that is safe, a task-oriented or a relationship-oriented teacher? Why? A combination one both is best. It also depends on the student to determine which combination of empathetic and structured you are.

    Question 5

How can we create the Sweet Spot between the two approaches? . You should also establish a relationship upfront and then determine goals. Age is another factor younger kids are probably more relationship oriented and the older you get more structure oriented but a combination is still important.
